8 families displaced by apartment fire in Georgetown

Georgetown, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Several families in Georgetown are left without homes following a devastating fire that swept through an apartment complex on Myers Drive.

Firefighters battled the blaze on Monday afternoon as it engulfed eight apartments, exacerbated by windy conditions.

Fortunately, officials report that there were no injuries resulting from the fire. However, the structural integrity of the building is compromised.

In total, 33 individuals, including 10 children, are displaced by the fire. Efforts are underway to assist them in finding temporary accommodation.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, with authorities working to determine what sparked the destructive inferno.
