Four wildcats and one colonel selected in NFL draft
DETROIT, Mi. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The NFL draft wrapped up Saturday evening, and four wildcats and one colonel ended up receiving a life-changing call.
On Friday evening, cornerback Andru Phillips was drafted in the 3rd round as the 70th overall pick to the New York Giants. Moments later, linebacker Trevin Wallace was drafted as the 72nd overall pick to the Carolina Panthers.
On Saturday, running back Ray Davis was drafted in the 4th round as the 128th overall pick to the Buffalo Bills. In round six, quarterback Devin Leary was drafted to the Baltimore Ravens as the 218th overall pick.
EKU’s Josiah Ezirim was drafted in the 7th round as the 239th overall pick. The offensive lineman becomes the 34th player in Colonel history to be drafted, and the first since 2016 when Noah Spence was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Three Kentucky wildcats also went as undrafted free agents on Saturday. Wide receiver Tayvion Robinson signed with the Ravens, offensive lineman Jeremy Flax signed with the Vikings, and tight end Brenden Bates signed with the Bears.
