Appeal for Muth to run in the Kentucky Derby denied
The horse is ineligible to race at Churchill Downs due to the Bob Baffert ban
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – An appeal for a horse trained by Bob Baffert to run in the 150th Kentucky Derby has been denied by the Kentucky Court of Appeals on Wednesday.
“We are disappointed with the single judge decision of the Court of Appeals, and saddened that our horse Muth, one of the fastest three-year-olds in the country, will be denied the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity he earned to contend in the 150th Run for the Roses and, potentially, the Triple Crown,” said Amr F. Zedan, the Founder of Zedan Racing Stables, in a statement on Thursday.
Zedan and his stable filed an appeal after the Kentucky Circuit Court denied their request for an emergency injunction of Baffert’s ban from Churchill Downs. The highly successful trainer and any of his horses have been banned from the Louisville race track since 2021.
The Lexington based horse farm will now prepare Muth for the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico in Baltimore, Maryland on May 18.
