Update: I-75 crash leaves one person dead
SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The driver of a semi, involved in a crash on I-75 in Scott County, that had the interstate shut down for hours.
According to the Sheriff’s office, deputies found the driver had passed away when they arrived on the scene. The occupants of the other vehicle that was involved, and SUV, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The crash happened just after 2:00 a.m.
The Sheriff’s office says the cause of the accident is still under investigation, but that it appears a semi traveling north lost two trailer tires, which crossed the median into the southbound lane. Investigators say one tire struck the front windshield of the other semi, the other, hit the SUV.
ABC36 News Now is working to learn the name of the driver who was killed. The Sheriff’s office says it will release his name, after they notify family members.
