Today marks 30th anniversary of deadly Carrollton bus crash
CARROLLTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Today marks the 30th anniversary of the Carrollton bus crash, which still stands as the deadliest drunk driving accident in history.
The crash happened on May 14th, 1988, when a drunk driver crashed into a church bus, which was full of children who had been on a trip to an amusement park.
The driver had been driving the wrong way on the interstate.
The crash killed 27, including 24 children, and injured 34 others.
It was the catalyst for increased regulations on buses, as well as a crackdown on drunk driving.
