Man killed in officer-involved shooting identified
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Fayette County coroner has identified the man killed during an officer-involved shooting with Lexington police early Tuesday (4/02) morning.
The coroner’s office says 47-year old Joseph Carrico died of gunshot wounds at UK Hospital after the incident with police. According to the coroner, Carrico sustained more than one gunshot wound, but the exact number hasn’t been released.
Lexington police say officers responded to Regency Point Path just after midnight Tuesday morning for a disorder with a weapon call.
Police say when they arrived, they saw the suspect with a firearm and shots were fired.
According to police, officers rendered first aid and Carrico was taken to the hospital.
Three officers are on administrative leave while the incident is investigated by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office and Kentucky State Police.
