Centre College Donation Withdrawn

Centre College announced Monday that a recent $250 million donation has been withdrawn. The school said in a release that the gift from the A. Eugene Brockman Charitable Trust was quote linked to a "significant capital market event." No further explanation was given in the release. The donation had just been received at the end of July. It had ranked among the 20 biggest gifts ever to a U.S. college or university, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.
