Motorcyclist injured, police car damaged in hit-and-run

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A motorcyclist suffered a broken leg and a Lexington Police car was damaged Wednesday night in a hit-and-run accident, according to police.

Investigators say around 9:40 p.m., a Lexington Police officer and a motorcyclist were stopped, side-by-side, at a stop light at New Circle Road and Trade Center Drive.  Police say someone driving a tan Chevy Caprice, tried to drive between the police car and motorcycle.

Investigators say the motorcyclist was injured and the right side of the police car was damaged along with the motorcycle.  Police say the driver took off and police gave chase, only to call off the pursuit a short time later for safety reasons.

The suspect’s car was later found at Eastland Drive and Memphis Court, but there wasn’t any sign of the driver.

Police are still looking for the suspect as the investigation continues.
