Honoring the Boone’s Creek Baptist Camp building

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) — Boone’s Creek Baptist Camp building, a place full of memories, faces demolition in the near future.

Larry Braswell with the church says it is no longer safe for people to enter the building. They’ve done their research and heard from multiple engineers. The conclusion: the building cannot be saved.

“This building as we’ve been told right now is not safe physically, so we need to demolish the building, but we plan to build another building and continue the mission,” Braswell said.

The building was used for summer camp activities as well as a skating rink during the weekends.

The church was notified that the building was unsafe in November 2023, but it was in full use up until that point.

“There’s a lot of emotional attachment in the community and really in the surrounding area to this building because it was a center to the community for a long time,” Braswell said.
