Major exclusions in Senate budget proposal

FRANKFORT, Ky (WTVQ) — A committee meeting was held at the Capitol today to discuss the Senate’s proposed two-year spending plan.

One thing that didn’t make it in their budget was funding for the Bluegrass Station airfield.

“The governor withdrew his support for the project as a whole, and it appears there was a lot of community resistance,” Sen. Chris McDaniel said. “It just didn’t seem realistic anymore, and so we simply didn’t include it in our proposed spending plan.”

Another thing that wasn’t included was funding for universal pre-k; one of Governor Andy Beshear’s main goals for the Commonwealth.

“We didn’t do anything with universal pre-k,” McDaniel said. “We did add some CCAP funding particularly for childcare providers who have children in the childcare space.”

McDaniel says their budget’s main goal is to continue to grow the economic momentum in Kentucky.
