Man accused of rape on the EKU campus

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man is being held in the Madison County Detention Center, charged with a rape that allegedly happened on the EKU campus in Richmond, Ky. on January 31st.

According to a Criminal Complaint, EKU police received a call from a bystander, that a sexual assault took place in a parking lot of the Business and Technology center on campus.

The complaint says the bystander saw the alleged victim running from the suspect’s car, asking for help.

Police say the alleged victim told them the suspect, Adrean Watkins, picked her up from her residence at Palmer Hall and they parked in the BTC parking lot, where the she and Watkins smoked what she believed to be marijuana that he provided.

The complaint says the alleged victim says she passed out.

She reported that, when she regained consciousness, the suspect was allegedly raping her.

Following a police photo lineup,  Watkins was identified by a witness at the scene as the person driving the vehicle the alleged rape victim got out of.

Watkins is being held on a First Degree rape charge.
