Danville police officer loses battle with cancer

DANVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) — A Danville police officer lost his battle with cancer Friday morning.

Officer Aaron Sparks passed away surrounded by his family, friends and fellow officers in Lexington.

Sparks was a veteran of the U.S. Army and an 8-year veteran of the Danville Police Department.

Danville police and a host of other emergency responders will escort Sparks home to Danville on Friday.

The escort will enter Boyle County at KY 34 then head to KY 2168 to the Danville Bypass until it reaches Perryville Road, passing City Hall before stopping at Preston Pruit Spurlin Funeral Home.

“Rest in peace 510, we love you brother,” the police department wrote on Facebook.
