Nearly $700K in upgrades coming to 2 regional airports in Ky.
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) — Nearly $700,000 in upgrades are coming to two regional airports in Kentucky.
According to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), the Federal Aviation Administration will award $379,620 to Barkley Regional Airport in Paducah and $294,000 to Stuart Powell Field in Danville.
The funding will help overhaul “critical infrastructure” needs at both airports.
The money is funded through the Airport Infrastructure Grant program, established in the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
The IIJA was signed into law by President Joe Biden in 2021.
The bill gives Kentucky billions of federal dollars over five years to improve Kentucky’s roads, bridges, railroads, riverports, airports, broadband and more.
