Officials: Fires intentionally set by University of Kentucky student in dorm

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Two fires were intentionally set by a University of Kentucky student inside a dorm room last week, UK officials said.

On Friday, Jan. 19, the UK Police Department received a report that a fire was intentionally set by a student inside the dorm three days prior. The fire was put out in a sink by another student.

The next day, the same student was accused of a “similar incident.”

UK police and the UK Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the incidents.

The student accused of setting the fires was not identified in the press release.

Arson is a felony and is punishable by one to five years.
