Laurel County Sheriff: Out-of-control teen detained

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ)-Laurel County deputies responded to a complaint of an out-of-control female teenager on board a Laurel County school bus at Keavy Elementary School Thursday afternoon.

Deputies say that on their way to the scene, they learned the teen had threatened children on the bus and had threatened the bus driver and the principal.

The Laurel County sheriff says there were around 60 children on the bus ranging from the age of 6 to 12.

Deputies say when they arrived at the scene they encountered  the out-of-control 17-year-old female who had to be removed by the deputies from the bus and taken into custody. The teenager continued to curse, scream, yell and threaten students and staff. The teenager said she was a drug user and was determined to be under the influence.

Officers say the teenager was charged with public intoxication – controlled substances; disorderly conduct – second-degree; and 63 counts of terroristic threatening – second-degree.

Officials say the court designated worker was contacted and assisted making contact with Laurel District Judge Wendell Hammons who ordered the female teenager to be detained.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Bailiff Tony Anders and Special Deputy Elizabeth Sparks took the female teenager to Breathitt County Juvenile Detention facility .
