City asking for comment on proposed downtown apartment project

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — City officials are seeking comments for a proposed apartment project in downtown Lexington that would renovate and rehabilitate an existing historic church.

The building is at 530 North Martin Luther King Boulevard.

The project would renovate and rehabilitate the church into affordable rental housing using HOME and HOME-ARP funds allocated by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government.

The renovated church would hold 20 multi-family units.

The project is expected to cost around $3,078,000. Approximately $1,140,728 of HOME and $272,786 HOME-ARP funds would be used. The remaining cost would be funded by Lexington AHTF, developer funds and private neighborhood investment.

Development proposals can be requested to be viewed at grants@lexingtonky.gov or in person at LFUCG Grants and Special Programs on the 6th floor of 200 East Main Street.

The public can submit comments about the proposal also at grants@lexingtonky.gov by Jan. 19.
