2024 Ky. Legislative Session to begin Jan. 2

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) — The General Assembly will meet in Frankfort on Jan. 2 to begin Kentucky’s 2024 Legislative Session.

The session will be 60 days, ending on April 15.

This year is known as a budget session and lawmakers must pass a new, two-year state budget and road plan as well.

Below are important dates to note in the legislative session calendar:

  • Along with weekends, legislators have Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Presidents’ Day off
  • Feb. 26 is the last day for new House bills to be introduced
  • Feb. 28 is the last day for new Senate bills to be introduced
  • March 27-28 is a concurrence period
  • March 29 through April 9 is the veto period

The session officially begins at noon on Jan. 2 at the State Capitol Building and Capitol Annex.
