What’s Kentucky’s favorite dog breed? Here are survey results

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) — What do you think Kentucky’s favorite dog breed is? A survey recently asked 10,000 dog owners across the country, and here are the results…

German shepherds ranked as the No. 1 favored dog breed in 16 states, including in Kentucky!

Well-known as a highly trainable and intelligent dog, German shepherds also ranked as America’s second favorite dog breed, according to a Forbes Advisor survey.

This breed is loyal and known as the most common breed to serve as search and rescue dogs and police K-9s, as well as aids in the military.

Overall in America, Australian shepherds ranked as the No. 1 favorite dog breed, followed by German shepherds, then bulldogs, labrador retrievers, Bernese mountain dogs and beagles.

According to the survey, dog owners chose the most favored breeds because they own/owned the dog breed, they think the dog breed would be a good companion and they think the dog breed is “really cute.”

Some of the least favored dog breeds include Havanese, Pembroke Welsh corgi, German shorthaired pointer, miniature schnauzer and Great Dane.
