Sen. Mays Bledsoe recovering after ‘serious’ injury from family horse
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) — Sen. Amanda Mays Bledsoe is recovering following a serious injury she sustained while caring for the family’s horse.
Mays Bledsoe (R-Lexington) was caring for her horse on Dec. 15 when she was kicked in the face, according to a press release.
She underwent emergency surgery over the weekend.
She’s expected to make a full recovery and not have any long-term or permanent damage.
“I want to especially thank the Lexington Fayette County EMS and Fire Department, which responded to the scene and transported me to the hospital, and the medical professionals at the University of Kentucky Hospital Trauma Critical Care Center who, in my most urgent time of need, provided me with world-class care that was second to none.
There is never a convenient time to be injured; it’s even less fortunate to have this happen right before the holidays and the start of the 2024 session. While the road to full recovery will not be easy, this will not keep me down for long. I look forward to returning to Frankfort and getting back to work as soon as possible,” she said in a statement.
