George Wilson Safety Foundation delivers holiday cheer to students

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Former NFL star and Kentucky Pro-Football Hall of Famer George Wilson’ paid a visit to Lexington on Wednesday helping to spread some holiday cheer.

Wilson and his charity, the George Wilson Safety Foundation taking 30 kids in the Fayette County Public School System on a shopping spree and Academy Sports + Outdoors on Nicholasville Road.

Wilson says about all about spreading joy and cheer this holiday season, while helping to take some of the pressure off of families in need.

“The idea is to help, help relieve some of that burden on some of the parents to have to provide, Christmas for all their kids. This is a way that Academy and the George Wilson Safety Foundation works together to help alleviate some of that burden and help the parents to be able to enjoy the holiday without the stress and the pressure of having to provide for every child in their household,” said Wilson.

This was the second annual Christmas event for the foundation.

Wilson is originally from Paducah, and spent his NFL career with the Detroit Lions, the Buffalo Bills and the Tennessee Titans.
