KYTC District 8 unveils new painted artwork on snowplow blades

SOMERSET, Ky. (WTVQ) — Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 8 on Thursday unveiled some new snowplow blades with a special twist.

The new blades are filled with bright, hand-painted artwork to stand out in the ice and snow.

On one blade appears a red truck with the quote “Drive safe, someone loves you”.

On another is a snowman decked out in police gear with the quote “Snow’s not the time to be a Rocket!”

Another snows a polar bear ice skating with the quote “Ice and snow — take it slow”.

A fourth has two cardinals flying, with the quote “Birds of a feather, drive safe together”.

The artwork is thanks to crews, students and teachers in KYTC’s first Paint the Plow program from McCreary Central High School, Rockcastle County High School, Russell County High School and Wayne County High School.

District 8 represents Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Lincoln, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell and Wayne counties.
