Floyd Co. Schools grows transportation fleet with 5 new buses

EASTERN, Ky. (WTVQ) — Floyd County Schools has grown its transportation fleet with the addition of five new buses.

The upgrade aims to enhance the daily commute for students in the county.

The new fleet additions include two, 34-passenger buses ideal for smaller routes; one, 52-passenger bus for medium-sized routes; and two, 72-passenger buses for larger student groups.

“These new buses symbolize our commitment to providing the best possible educational experience for our students, which begins with a safe and comfortable journey to school. We are excited to see these buses contribute to a positive and productive learning environment,” said Superintendent Anna Shepherd in a press release.

Transportation Director Wes Halbert highlighted the operational benefits.

“The addition of these Bluebird buses to our fleet not only enhances our capacity to serve our students efficiently but also aligns with Floyd County Schools’ ongoing efforts to modernize and improve its infrastructure and services, ensuring the well-being and satisfaction of both students and staff,” Halbert said.
