Baby dies after vehicle catches fire in driveway of home in Nicholasville

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) — A 4-month-old baby has died and a man has serious injuries after a truck “burst into flames” on Eagle Nest Drive in Nicholasville on Wednesday.

According to Officer Sam Wade of the Nicholasville Police Department, the incident happened around 11 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a truck in the driveway of a home on fire.

There were reports that a man was working on the vehicle when it exploded, Wade said.

A baby was inside the truck when it caught fire and “a few” people were standing around the vehicle.

The baby sadly has died, police said.

She was identified as Brylee Mae Gill.

A man fled the scene and was found at a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Officers are interviewing the man to determine exactly what happened.

This is a death investigation, however, police can’t say whether the incident was criminal or accidental.

The baby’s mother has been contacted, police told ABC 36.
