LEXINGTON, Ky (WTVQ)- Kentucky gubernatorial candidates are gearing up for ‘Election Day 2023.’

Kentuckians will head to the polls Tuesday casting their ballots for the state’s top seats. Gubernatorial candidates incumbent Democrat Andy Beshear and current Attorney General and Republican nominee Daniel Cameron are aiming for the state’s top job.

Both made stops Monday in Lexington to make those final pitches to voters.

Cameron visited the Fayette County Republican Party headquarters Monday following a six day bus tour across the state.

“We felt like momentum and energy was high with folks all across this Commonwealth wanting to see a new governor coming tomorrow, November 7th,” says Cameron.

Cameron targeted Beshear, saying Kentucky needs a governor that will keep criminals in jail and help students who he says have suffered learning loss following Covid 19 pandemic shutdowns.

“My message is clear, this really isn’t a race about republican and democrat. This is a race about crazy versus normal. And I think we need leadership in this state that is going to stand up and fight back against Joe Biden as opposed to endorse Joe Biden, which is what we’ve seen from Andy Beshear,” says Cameron.

Meanwhile, Beshear is continuing his ‘Go Vote’ bus tour across the state. Beshear highlighted his record unemployment, economic investment, and bipartisan achievements, like legalizing medical marijuana and sports betting.

“Now, we’re building a commonwealth we’ve always dreamed of. We’re a leader in economic growth, tens of thousands of new jobs. Our lowest unemployment rate ever,” says Beshear.

Beshear will be at “West Sixth Brewing” at 6 o’clock.

Former United States president Donald Trump, who endorsed Cameron for Kentucky governor, will be joining Cameron during a tele-rally Monday night. It starts at 9 p.m.

Both candidates are encouraging Kentuckians to head to the polls Tuesday.
