Staff trained on metal detectors use at East Bernstadt Independent
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Officials at one Laurel County school got some hands-on training on the use of metal detectors Tuesday.
Deputies and officers with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office conducted a training session at East Bernstadt Independent school.
Students went through the metal detectors now in place at all entrances to the school and magnetic wands were used on them as they entered the building at the start of school.
Sheriff John Root says school staff was trained on the proper use of the metal detectors.
In addition to the metal detectors, Root says the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office will continue to do their random, unscheduled school safety walk-throughs throughout the school year.
