Man arrested after fighting with deputy and breaking into cars
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- A man is accused of fighting with a Sergeant then trying to light a squad car on fire in Laurel County.
According to deputies, 37-year-old Richard Biggs from Mount Vernon was arrested Friday morning around 2:30 off Cane Creek Road about 10 miles south of London.
A Sgt. says someone complained about a man trying to get into cars and moving other peoples’ belongings around on their front porches.
The Sgt. found Biggs standing next to an open car door.
He says Biggs started yelling and talking nonsense then tried fighting with him.
Several people came to help the Sgt. and eventually they got Biggs into the back of a cruiser.
Deputies say he then tried to set it on fire!
They also found he had tried to break into seven different cars at homes along the road.
Deputies say they found a large butcher’s knife on the driver’s side door of the car where the Sgt. first saw Biggs.
Deputies say Biggs told them he had taken flakka, a drug they say makes people behave dangerously and erratically.
