Mack Introduced as Louisville Head Coach

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A round of applause and the gift of a Louisville slugger welcomed Chris Mack to the Cardinals family.

“To come to Louisville, obviously this place has to be special to me and it is,” Mack said at a press conference Wednesday.

Mack’s wife is a Louisville alum. Now a Cardinal himself, Mack is hoping for a smooth transition.

Mack went 215-97 in his nine years at Xavior. He made the Elite Eight once and Sweet 16 four times.

He’ll have his work cut out for him in his new job. The program currently awaits potential NCAA sanctions for a scandal involving former head coach Rick Pitino.

Mack praised Pitino and former interim head coach David Padget.

Louisville will pay Mack about $4 million a year on a seven year contract.
