Image released of accused Clay City bank robber
CLAY CITY, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police released a security camera image of a man they say robbed a bank in Powell County Friday afternoon that led to a lockdown at a nearby school.
Investigators say a man walked in to a Whitaker Bank branch on Main Street in Clay City around 2:45p.m., demanded money from a teller, got it and left. No one was hurt.
Clay City Elementary School was temporarily placed on lockdown as a precaution after the robbery because authorities say the robber was headed in that direction. The school is only about a mile from the bank branch.
Anyone with information that could help investigators identify and catch the accused robber is asked to contact State Police Post 8 at 606-784-4127 or toll-free 1-800-222-5555.
