Couple arrested in Versailles after infants found neglected

VERSAILLES, Ky. (WTVQ) — A Tennessee couple was arrested after police found six-month old twins in their backseat covered with bags of clothes and cold to touch.

Police say the couple’s car broke down and they had stopped at a Speedway station. Speedway employees called police about a suspicious vehicle that had been at the pump for hours.

Police say they came and talked to the couple, 33-year-old Crystal Cramer and 34-year-old Christopher Smith.

Upon checking their vehicle, police say they found six-month-old twins in the backseat with bags of clothes on top of them.

According to police, the infants were cold to touch and blue, covered in urine.

Police say they took the kids into protective custody and arrested Cramer and Smith.

Both are charged with wanton endangerment 1st and criminal abuse 1st. Cramer was also charged with promoting contraband 1st and possession of controlled substance 1st (she had methamphetamine on her)

Both were taken to the Woodford County Detention Center.
