Woman killed in crash in Powell County

POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say a driver trying to make a U-turn led to a deadly crash in Powell County.

Troopers say in happened Tuesday on the Mountain Parkway.

Investigators say 71-Alvin Appleby, of Elkhorn, was driving a vehicle with a trailer and attempted to make a U-turn in the median.

They say a car being driven by 39-year-old Lisa Hurley, of Salyersville, was traveling in the same direction, when she struck the trailer.

Hurley was taken to Clark Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The accident remains under investigation.
