Last week’s storm delaying yard waste collections in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Downed trees and limbs caused by last week’s winter storm are pushing back waste collections in Lexington.

According to the city’s Division of Waste Management, yard waste collectors worked all day Monday but were not able to finish their normal routes because of the large amount of branches and other debris.

Homes with city collections that were missed on Monday will be serviced Tuesday.

This extended pickup window is likely to cause some of Tuesday’s collections to be delayed until Wednesday.

The city says there is no yard waste collection on Wednesdays and if the heavy yard waste volume continues on Thursday, then some of those collections could be delayed until Friday.

If some Friday collections are missed, they will be picked up on Saturday.

The city asks people whose carts are not serviced on their regular collection day are asked to keep their carts out at the curb until they are.

Snow is in the forecast for Tuesday night into Wednesday and the city says that too could impact its collection schedule.
