Memo accuses Congressman of inappropriate behavior

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) — A newly released memo from the former Chief of Staff of the Kentucky House Republican Caucus says Congressman Jim Stewart made “unwanted verbal advances” towards a state employee.

According to an AP release, the 2015 memo from Brad Metcalf claims a woman accused Stewart of making inappropriate comments to her and calling her after work on her personal phone.

The complaint, filed with the Legislative Research Comittee, goes on to say Stewart agreed to no contact with the woman after meeting with Human Resources and General Counsel.

Metcalf recently filed a lawsuit against the LRC seeking to recover lost wages and benefits while claiming he was fired for reporting ethical and mismanagement issues with the handling of sexual harassment complaints against multiple lawmakers.

Republican Jim Stewart represents District 86 which covers Knox County and parts of Laurel. He was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives back in 1997 where he has served ever since.
