Second nerve gas leak detected at Blue Grass Army Depot
MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – For the second day in a row, a nerve gas leak is detected at the Blue Grass Army Depot in Madison County.
According to a release from Blue Grass Chemical Activity, the leak was detected during a routine inspection Wednesday at a storage structure known as an “igloo.”
The depot also reported a vapor emission at an igloo on Tuesday.
Both vapor emissions were from 115MM rockets, which are filled with GB, also known sarin.
Officials at the depot say a powered filter was connected to the igloo as a safety precaution to ensure the leak does not enter the outside atmosphere.
There is no danger or risk to people in Madison County or surrounding counties, according to depot officials.
