Marshall school shooter showed no remorse says law enforcement
MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) — The Marshall school shooter Gabe Parker appeared calm and polite claims Marshall County Sheriff’s Captain Matt Hillbrecht.
“Cold, callous. He never was emotional. His voice never quivered. He didn’t have any inflection. He didn’t tear up,” said Captain Hillbrecht.
In a court hearing only days after the shooting, Hillbrecht said that Parker admitted to hiding the gun he used to kill two in a laundry basket at home. He also brought a knife to school to fight off other students that might attack him after he ran out of bullets.
After opening fire, Hillbrecht says Parker blended in with other students who didn’t know he was the shooter. He hid in a weight room with them and considered using the knife on them.
Hillbrecht went on to explain that Parker saw the rampage as a science experiment and wanted to see how students, society and police would respond. He felt that since he was an atheist, he had no purpose in life and neither did anyone else.
