Frankfort Fairness Ordinance Delayed
Instead, after more than two hours of public comments, an amendment was made to the ordinance, meaning the vote will be pushed back to Thursday morning.
Commissioner Katie Flynn-Hedden proposed the addition of the term ‘legal guardianship’ to the the definition of ‘family’ within the ordinance.
The amendment was substantial enough of a change that the commission will have to wait at least 24 hours before a second reading and vote can be given to the ordinance.
The commission is scheduled to meet at 8am on Thursday, August 29th at Frankfort City Hall.
The fairness ordinance would prohibit discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations based on someone’s actual or perceived sexual orientation and gender identity.
