Dakota Meyer and Bristol Palin call it quits

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky native and Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer has filed for divorce from Bristol Palin.

People magazine confirms the two are ending their marriage.

The couple tied the knot in June 2016 and have two daughters. Palin has a son from a previous relationship.

Palin and Meyer had a few bumpy moments in their relationship. They called off their original wedding date just days before they were supposed to wed in 2015.

Palin is the daughter of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin and a former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant.

Meyer, who is from Green County, was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Battle of Ganjgal on September 8, 2009, in Kunar Province, Afghanistan.

He is the second youngest living Medal of Honor recipient.
