Update: Kidnapping suspect called “armed and dangerous” caught
UPDATE: (2/7/2018) The Boyle County Sheriff’s Office says Kyle E. Smith is now in custody in LaGrange, Georgia. The sheriff says Smith turned himself in Wednesday afternoon. He is expected to be extradited back to Kentucky next week.
BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Authorities in Boyle County are searching for a kidnapping suspect they are calling “armed and dangerous.”
According to the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office, 23-year-old Kyle E. Smith, of Danville, is accused of kidnapping and assaulting a woman.
The victim says Smith came up behind her as she went to her car after leaving a day care facility on East Main Street in Danville Tuesday morning.
She says Smith assaulted her, forced her into her vehicle and made her to drive away, saying he would kill her.
He then switched seats with her so he could drive.
Investigators say the woman jumped from the vehicle while it was travelling on U.S. 150, heading towards Stanford, but Smith did not stop.
The victims was able to call 911 and was taken to Ephriam McDowell Regional Medical Center for her injuries.
The Boyle County Sheriff’s Office says Smith was last seen driving a green 1999 Mercury Villager with a license number of 103JXE.
Anyone who sees Smith or knows his whereabouts is told not to confront him but to 911 immediately.
