Ky Kernel: Vandalism of UK Jewish Center sign

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ/Ky Kernal) – The Ky Kernel reports an act of vandalism on the University of Kentucky’s Jewish Center sign happened Monday.

The Ky Kernel says Rabbi Shlomo Litvin witnessed a young adult “tackle” the sign. He says he was working in his office at the center when the act happened between 1:30 and 2 a.m. on  Monday, January 5th.

“It’s not that rare on a university campus to hear kids yelling at 2 a.m., so at first I wasn’t alarmed,” he told the school newspaper. “And then I heard, ‘Look at the Jews,’ which perked my ear.”

Litvin says he then opened his window shade to see a group of five or six individuals, including the one that damaged the sign. He says he heard male voices yell “Heil Hitler,” “Get the Jews, kill the Jews,” and other similar lines.

The school newspaper says the Rabbi then contacted the UK Police. They say police were able to find the stolen sign.
