LFD: Apartment fire started in kitchen

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A family is displaced after an apartment fire occurred just after 3:30 Wednesday afternoon.

The fire happened at the Fairington Apartments at 3500 Laredo Drive.

Police believe the fire started in the kitchen.

According to the Lexington Fire Department, the family was home at the time of the fire, but there were no injuries or transports to the hospital.

The apartment complex is putting the family up in a hotel, says the department. They have reached out to the Red Cross.

The cause of fire is under investigation.
