KSP: Father shoots son during fight

MCKEE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A fight between a father and son leads to a fatal shooting in Jackson County.

Kentucky State Police say they were called just after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday to a home on KY-89 North.

Troopers say they found 44-year-old Jason R. Gabbard, of McKee, dead from a gunshot wound when they arrived.

Investigators say 62-year-old Larry R. Gabbard, also of McKee, shot his son during an altercation.

Jason Gabbard was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County Coroner.

His body has been taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

State Police say Larry Gabbard has been charged with murder.

He is in the Jackson County Detention Center.
