State Representative Darryl Owens will not seek reelection

Louisville, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Representative Darryl Owens announced Monday he will not run for re-election.

He is the representative for the 43rd legislative district and has held the position since 2005.

Owens, who is a Democrat, began his legislative career under former House Speaker Jody Richards, who also announced Monday he would not seek re-election.

Owens also served under former Speaker Greg Stumbo, who appointed him chair of the powerful Judiciary Committee.

Owen says he will continue to serve in the General Assembly through 2018.
