Couple with KY ties found dead in Illinois

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man and woman, both with ties to Kentucky, were found dead in Illinois in what authorities say was a murder-suicide.

According to WLS-TV ABC 7 in Chicago, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 600-block of North Western Avenue in Lake Forest on Wednesday. When they arrived, they found a man dead and a woman who had been shot several times.

The woman was taken to a hospital where she died.

ABC 7 says the Lake County Coroner identified the woman as 27-year-old Claire Vanlandingham of Lake Forest, IL and the man as 33-year-old Ryan Zike of Louisville, KY.

According to Valandingham’s Facebook page, she was a recent graduate of the University of Louisville School of Dentistry.

Zike’s Facebook page says he was a graduate of Trinity High School and Eastern Kentucky University.

According to the coroner, Vanlandingham died from injuries related to multiple gunshot wounds.

Zike’s preliminary autopsy results show he died from a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators have not said if it was self-inflicted.

Officials say the case is still under investigation.
