McCracken County jailer arrested
PADUCAH, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Kentucky jailer is on the other side of the bars in Christian County.
Kentucky State Police say they arrested McCracken County Jailer Tonya D. Ray of Paducah.
State Police say they began investigating testimony given by Ray in a McCracken County case in October involving former Deputy Jailer Ben Green.
Immediately following her testimony, criminal charges against Green were dismissed.
On Friday, the results of the investigation by Kentucky State Police on Ray’s testimony were presented to a McCracken County grand jury.
The grand jury returned an indictment on Ray.
A few hours later, Ray was charged with first-degree perjury.
She is in the Christian County Jail.
The case will be prosecuted by Christian County Commonwealth Attorney Lynn Pryor, who was appointed as special prosecutor by the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office.
