Doughnut Holes “Snowballs”
SERVINGS:6-8
Ingredients
-
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 package hot chocolate
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1½ cups powdered sugar
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Preparation
- In a small bowl, whisk together the milk, vanilla, and egg.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and hot chocolate mix.
- Stir the milk and egg mixture into the dry ingredients. Then stir in the melted butter, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Over medium-high heat, heat vegetable oil, about 1 inch deep, in a heavy skillet. When oil has reached frying temp (about 350°F), carefully drop balls of dough into the oil (using spring scoop or two spoons), and fry for about 3–4 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Let cool about 2 minutes then toss in powdered sugar. Enjoy!
