Doughnut Holes “Snowballs”

SERVINGS:6-8

Ingredients

    • 1 large egg
    • 1 cup milk
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 1 teaspoon sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 package hot chocolate
    • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
    • 1½ cups powdered sugar
    • Vegetable oil, for frying

Preparation

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the milk, vanilla, and egg.
  2. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and hot chocolate mix.
  3. Stir the milk and egg mixture into the dry ingredients. Then stir in the melted butter, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Over medium-high heat, heat vegetable oil, about 1 inch deep, in a heavy skillet. When oil has reached frying temp (about 350°F), carefully drop balls of dough into the oil (using spring scoop or two spoons), and fry for about 3–4 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Let cool about 2 minutes then toss in powdered sugar. Enjoy!
