Three people charged in defrauding state Medicaid program

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ)- Three women have been indicted for allegedly stealing from the Kentucky Medical Assistance Program to the tune of $27,000.

The announcement was made Monday by Attorney General Andy Beshear and his Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse.

Three women have been charged with 44 felony counts for the alleged theft from the assistance program as well as someone receiving Social Security.

44 year-old Jonnie Adams-Jones, of Lexington, and another women allegedly took around $15,000 from Kentucky’s Medicaid Program.

The other woman was also accused of using nearly $9,000 of Social Security funds as her own. She was also charged with theft to make a required disposition of property, and one count of knowingly exploiting an adult.

Both woman are charged with four counts of Medicaid fraud and four counts of theft by unlawful taking over $500.

According to AG Beshear, the two allegedly submitted fraudulent documentation to the Kentucky Medicaid Program in 2014 and 2015, in order to get payment for services not provided.

A third women, 60 year-old Taslima Abdullah of Winchester (formerly of Lexington), allegedly took more than $12,000 from the state Medicaid Program.

She is charged with two counts of Medicaid fraud, one count of theft by unlawful taking of property valued at $10,000 or more, one count of theft by unlawful taking over $500, 21 counts of criminal possession of a forged document, and persistent felony offender.

According to AG Beshear, Abdullah allegedly submitted fraudulent documentation to the Kentucky Medicaid Program from 2013 to 2015, in order to get payment for services not provided.
