Man accused of biting neighbor’s face who was trying to help him
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (News Enterprise/WTVQ)- A man will likely need surgery after being bitten in the face by a neighbor.
According to News Enterprise, a man was helping a neighbor away from traffic on Westport Road around midnight on Monday when he was attacked.
Police responded to reports of an active fight between two men around the 600 block of Westport Road.
According to police, one of the men had an injury to the left side of his face.
Reports say that there was a significant piece of skin missing from the man’s face, exposing his left cheekbone.
32 year-old Stefan Batts of Elizabethtown is charged with second degree assault.
The injured man, who is a neighbor of Batts, was taken to University Hospital in Louisville for treatment.
According to reports, it appears that the man will need surgery.
Police say that it looks like the injured man was simply trying to help his neighbor.
He told police that he saw Batts stumbling around in the apartment complex parking lot and nearly being hit by traffic.
The man was helping Batts to his apartment when Batts suddenly bit him, resulting in a fight.
Batts claimed that the victim and his wife were trying to force their way into his apartment and acted in self-defense.
Police say all the evidence suggests otherwise.
Batts is being held on a $10,000 cash bond in the Hardin County Detention Center.
According to jail records, he was released from jail on Sunday after serving a few days for third degree terroristic threatening.
