Man dies after alleged hit-and-run crash

COLUMBIA, Ky. (WTVQ)-Kentucky State Police say a 71-year-old man has died after an alleged hit-and-run crash Friday night.

According to the police, Danny Helm died from his injuries sustained in the Friday night crash.

Helm was pronounced dead at University of Kentucky Hospital.

Police say 28-year-old James Burris of Columbia was driving a semi eastbound on KY-80 near Rutledge Road when he crossed into incoming traffic, striking helm.

Police arrested Burris and charged him with leaving the scene of an accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
