State flags lowered in honor of Fort Campbell solider
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The governor has ordered flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Saturday in honor of a Fort Campbell solider.
According to the Department of Defense, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Lee M. Smith died November 11 at Camp Taji, Iraq, due to injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.
The 35-year-old died while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.
The incident is under investigation.
Services for Smith will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 2 at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah.
Governor Matt Bevin is encouraging individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute of lowering the flag in honor of CW2 Smith.
