Lexington ties homicide record with fatal shooting

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington sees its 27th homicide of the year after a shooting Thursday night, tying the record for the most homicides in a year for the city.

The Fayette County Coroner says 51-year-old Anthony Carter died Friday morning at the University of Kentucky Hospital.

Police found Carter shot in the 2000-block of Jeffery Court at around 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

Police say witnesses tell them a man was seen running away from the scene after the shooting.

They are still searching for the suspect and have not released many details on the shooting.
