Park Plaza Honors Lexington Man
A new memorial plaza in Lexington honors a neighborhood leader.
Ron Mays died in March of 2011. He lived in the Eastland Park area of Lexington. Monday, a memorial plaza was dedicated in Eastland Park. It includes a Ron Mays Memorial Bench, and the people behind this effort say it’s a fitting tribute to Mays.
"Whenever folks needed something, he was there to serve them," said Loys Mather of the Eastland Parkway Neighborhood Association. "On a cold day, he’d deliver hot drinks, he’d deliver sandwiches. He spent his life exemplifying what servitude is all about. So today, we’re honoring him."
This is a joint venture between the neighborhood association and the city of Lexington.
